# SpellCast > SpellCast is a UK primary-school spelling app built on the National Curriculum statutory word lists (Reception to Year 6). It turns the year-group spelling words children are expected to learn into short, adaptive, hero-themed practice, with every word spoken aloud and shown in a real sentence. There are two products — one for schools (£399/year flat, unlimited pupils) and one for families at home (from £2.99/month). All spelling resources, word lists, and guides on the site are free and ungated. SpellCast's aim is to be genuinely useful to teachers, parents, and children, not to maximise growth metrics. Teaching resources are kept free and open on purpose. The app is paid; the resources are not. ## Pricing - [Pricing (machine-readable)](https://spellcast.academy/pricing.md): full pricing for schools, families, and MATs - [For schools](https://spellcast.academy/for-schools): £399/year flat per school, unlimited pupils, 6-week free trial ## Free resources - [Spelling word lists by year group](https://spellcast.academy/spelling-words): statutory and common-exception words, Reception–Year 6 - [Spelling resources for parents and teachers](https://spellcast.academy/spelling-resources): guides organised by year group and spelling pattern - [All free resources](https://spellcast.academy/resources): hub for word lists, guides, and tools - [Spelling challenge](https://spellcast.academy/spelling-challenge): a free 10-word spelling game ## Blog (guidance for parents and teachers) - [Blog home](https://spellcast.academy/blog) - [Is dyslexia affecting my child's spelling?](https://spellcast.academy/blog/dyslexia-and-spelling) - [Does spelling still matter in school anymore?](https://spellcast.academy/blog/does-spelling-still-matter) - [Do primary schools still do spelling tests?](https://spellcast.academy/blog/do-primary-schools-still-do-spelling-tests) - [The science of spelling: how children learn to spell](https://spellcast.academy/blog/science-of-spelling) - [The best spelling apps for UK primary schools (2026 review)](https://spellcast.academy/blog/best-spelling-apps-uk-primary-schools) - [Looking for a Spelling Shed alternative?](https://spellcast.academy/blog/spelling-shed-alternative) - [EdShed alternatives for primary spelling](https://spellcast.academy/blog/edshed-alternative) - [DoodleSpell vs SpellCast, compared](https://spellcast.academy/blog/doodlespell-vs-spellcast) - [The best spelling apps for kids (UK parent's guide, 2026)](https://spellcast.academy/blog/best-spelling-apps-for-kids) - [How to make spelling fun for kids](https://spellcast.academy/blog/make-spelling-fun-for-kids) - [Is my child behind if they can't spell well?](https://spellcast.academy/blog/is-my-child-behind-spelling) ## Key facts - Country: United Kingdom.
